I have been invited to talk about developing brand identities at Glasgow Caledonian University’s London Campus. Reflecting the fashion marketing industry and designed to enthuse and challenge students, the MSc International Fashion Marketing is fast-paced, exciting and innovative.

GCU was the first in the UK to launch a Master’s degree in Fashion Marketing 20-years-ago and its academics have unrivalled experience in the sector.

ASWESAW is a London based experimental documentary project. They film/photograph interesting events and showcase work produced by local artists and creatives. The aim is to make an identity which is not mainstream, can visualise the unfinished/unpolished atmosphere of the whole ASWESAW project. We developed a basic element pool where future contributors can reinterpret the logo as they wish and express feelings. www.aswesaw.com

The founders of the Diamond Heels concept approached Bencium to develop this unique fashion brand. The new logo, the branding elements and the submitted business plan design played a big role in winning the first place at Switzerland’s most renowned start-up competition.

Research Centre for Natural Sciences Identity

With more than 1000 researchers and employees, six national science institutions were reorganised under an umbrella brand. Their new office building and laboratories will be finished in 2013.

The logo symbolises the book as a classic and ancient source of science and knowledge. It is built with six lines, the same as the number of the member institutes.

The institutes are: Institute of Materials and Environmental Chemistry • Institute of Enzymology • Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience and Psychology • Institute of Molecular Pharmacology • Institute of Technical Physics and Materials Science •Institute of Organic Chemistry

IndexInvestor Branding, Zürich

IndexInvestor is the first Swiss company to provide index based passive Asset Management only. Its founder approached Bencium to develop the brand identity.

I spent a whole sunny October day with Mr Ochsner – the CFO and founder of IndexInvestor. In order to better understand his target group we visited many different Zurich locations, restaurants and the financial quarter.

We are having a café at Park Hyatt Zurich – with an almost finished brand strategy!

We even visited the 700-year old lime tree in Linn near Zurich. The tree gave the final inspiration for the logo and served as a key visual in the complete online communication programme.

Suitart Brand and Corporate Identity

Launched in 2009, Suitart is a Swiss network of tailors making custom-made suits, shirts, trousers and men’s accessories. My goal when designing the brand was to find a form that was unique, standing out and easily recognisable. The logo has to function when using both in large and small sizes, in different materials and textiles.

In 2011 SuitArt became a global brand: the company was transformed into an incorporated. In 2012 the board member of Harrods and Hugo Boss bought 6% of its shares.
